About ESA Echoes of Southern Africa is a performing arts group that was founded by multi-talented Khumbuzile Dlamini, Nana Mogongwa and Bandi Mogongwa in March 2006. They organized a group of several singers from the Southern Africa region to honor Winnie Mandela at Chicago’s V103’s Expo for Today’s Black Woman. Today, with Khumbuzile as Creative Director, Bandi as the Treasurer and Nana as the Assistant manager ESA has grown into a talented and creative singing and dancing troupe with 13 members from several nations and ethnic groups from Southern Africa, and the African American community.

ESA is dedicated to preserving, sharing and educating others about the Southern African experience. ESA accomplishes their mission through a wide range of inspiring cultural performances, learned from life in the villages, cities, churches, weddings, funerals, townships, work places and the courageous struggle against the brutal apartheid government in South Africa! Through ESA, the songs and dances of the Tswana, Xhosa, Sotho, Venda, Swazi, Zulu, Pedi, Shangane, Shona, Ndebele, Basarwa, Himba and others are represented by magnificent blend talented performers that have the ability to bring a uniquely Southern African flavor to any function or occasion!
